Divisional Plan

Professional Learning Funding provided by Manitoba Education - Please provide details below

1) To date, how have you used the money your division received for K-8 teachers' LwICT professional learning in 2008-09 and 2009-10?
We have offered 2 days of PD for all new teachers and admin coming into the division at the start of the school year. LWICT is part of the BATL program, and the
the division has required all BATL teachers come in for 2 days of PD during the school year. PD sessions were offered for Primary, middle years and high school teachers.
The division also offers one to one PD for teachers who make the request. The division has a staff member that meets with the teacher in thier classroom to work on LwICT.

2) What professional learning is occurring now because of the extra funding that you previously not able to do?
over the years the division has supported LwICT and will continue to do so, as this area is a pirority for the division.

3) Does your division have any strategies for ongoing professional learning (For example: Professional Learning Community - online, face-to-face, mentors, etc?)
The divisiion is looking at offering release time for a teacher in each school to work with teachers in the area of lwICT. This includes the high schools also.
The division has set up workspaces in FirstClass for teachers to share resourses, and success stories in the classroom.

4) What successful strategies would you like to recommend to other divisions?

Having a LwICT resource person that works with teachers in thier classroom has been very successful for RRSD.
